FAQ: How do I turn off the memories ?

Those memories are so annoying. How can I turn them off ?

Without a mod, you can't but you can turn off the memory notifications in your options. Instructions on how to do so, can be found here: TUTORIAL: Turn off memory notifications

Ok, that's less annoying but I noticed that my save game is now a lot bigger. Any chance of getting rid of some of them without having to delete them manually ?

As of now, there is no easy way to delete existing memories. You will need to go through all the Sim and manually delete. Unfortunately, ServiceNPCs also like to make memories and short of adding them to your household, there's no way of getting rid of those.

There is a way now thought to prevent new ones. Velocitygrass made a little tool which lets YOU decide, which memories are worth recording and which ones aren't. All further details can be found in the mod description itself: No (or fewer) automatic memories

Any mods that make they system go away entirely ?

You can just use the no automatic memory flavor already posted in that thread. It will still allow you to make your own memories with the camera.

If you want the turn off the system completely you can use Shimrod's Memories Disabled 1.22/Generations. This mods reduces the number of allowed memories to 0. Existing memories will still need to be deleted manually.

Do those memories serve any purpose ?

You can look at the scrap book ingame to see what inactives were up to while you weren't playing them. Other than that. There is no real ingame purpose

You can however upload them to your Sims 3 Profile/facebook to tell stories. You even get a few goodies for uploading them: NEWS: Memories and the Sims 3 Store. Deleted memories still count towards your total.
