ERROR: Distorted Animals

Problem
The new EP gives many players distorted animals. Graphic cards that were borderline now don't work correctly anymore cause the requirements changed.

The problems are
  • Distorted Animals with lines coming out (pic 1)
  • Holes and strange looking eyes or see-through fur (pic 2 & pic 3)
  • Bulky or flat looking fur (pic 4)
  • Distorted Animals only in CAW
  • Streched Animals when doing a certain interaction
Cause
  1. Your graphic card is borderline or not supported.   Make sure, your card is on the list of supported cards before buying the EP. Cards known to have a problem:
    • Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family
    • Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
    • Intel GMA 4 Series
    • Nvidia GeForce 6200
    • Nvidia GeForce 6150SE
    • Nvidia GeForce 7100 (not supported)
    • ATI Radeon Xpress 1250
  2. Turn on Advanced Rendering
  3. No solution
  4. There are also mods that can cause similar stuff so be sure to update those (especially camera mods,   Johna's Toddler stand in cas mod and Johna's Replaced CAS animations - three flavours Mod).
  5. This is a bug. There seem to be missing animations. It's comparable to the Toddler-Watch-TV Bug in the base game.
Other Solutions/Notes
  • If you have an ATI card, this is also worth a try: ERROR: Distorted Fences and Stairs
  • If you have a high end card, make sure to limit your FPS to max 60 or make sure your cooling system is strong enough. You can use either FPS Limiter (there's a Sims Version to be found here, please read instructions: TOOL: 3Booter, the Incooperative Game Kicker, 2nd post). There have already been some fried cards.
  • Word has it that EA is working on a patch. No one knows WHICH of the glitches is being fixed though so if you have a card that isn't supported, I won't hold my breath for a solution. I like to be proven wrong though.
